The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has summed up the results of the next stage of the implementation of the experimental project on the production, procurement and supply of ammunition. As a result, 370 new ammunition samples were codified for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 250 of which are for drones. This was reported by the Ministry of Defence.
The project initially concerned only ammunition for UAVs, but was later extended to all types of shells. The Register of Selection Participants and Executors of State Contracts included 76 new companies that acquired the status of manufacturers for the first time. This increased competition in the market and expanded the range of products. And the reduction of permitting processes to a few days accelerated the development and supply of ammunition.
"The most important results are those we see on the battlefield. The share of mortar and artillery rounds in full sets manufactured in Ukraine has increased by 50%. This indicates the successful establishment of closed production cycles," said Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal.
Also, as part of the experiment, in 2025 the Ministry of Defence launched joint projects with 12 manufacturers of specialty chemicals to launch the production of critical explosives.
It was previously reported that the Ukrainian Octopus interceptor drone of Shaheds went into series production. According to Denys Shmyhal, the technology has been transferred to the first three manufacturers, and eleven more are preparing production lines.
He also emphasized that the technology itself was developed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and has been proven in combat. These drones operate at night, under jamming, and at low altitudes.
